Polly Nungala Nelson [c1946-]

Polly Nungala Nelson is a highly regarded artist from Utopia situated north east of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. Polly is the sister of Gracie Pwerle Morton. Polly’s dreaming paintings usually depict the bush plums or bush berries, however, she is also renowned for her magnificent versions of the bush bean dreaming that her internationally esteemed cousin, Kathleen Petyarre [some critics believe she is the equal], has made so famous. She is also known for her depiction of Awelye, a term that refers to women’s business, including women’s ceremonial body designs that are deeply significant to the Utopia region.
