Lorna Fencer Napurulla [1920 – 2006]

Before Lorna began painting on canvas in 1986, she applied her skills onto traditional women's coolamons and digging sticks. Over the time she developed her own distinctive bold personal style, liberally layering vivid colours into strong swirling designs based on various bush food and other Dreamings. In more recent years, her work became increasingly freer, more abstract and sensually colourful, taking on a more modernist appearance. Her amazing work is represented in many public galleries and private collections both here and overseas. Sadly, she passed away in December 2006.
