Linda Syddick Napaltjarri [c1937-]

Born in the area around Wilkinkarra [Lake MacKay], a large dry salt lake that straddles the WA/NT border, Linda draws her inspiration from the cultural and spiritual traditions of her Pintupi people. After her father was killed by a revenge spearing party in accordance with customary law when she was only a toddler, Linda was taught to paint by her stepfather, Lungkata Shorty Tjungurrayi and her two uncles, Uta Uta Tjangala and Nosepeg Tjupurrula. Having been mentored by some of the best, it is no wonder that Linda’s work is now some of the most sought after in the world today.
