Lily Kelly Napangardi [c1948-]

Lily Kelly Napangardi was born at Haasts Bluff, but and moved to the newly established settlement of Papunya in the early 1960s. She is now a respected senior law woman and respected artist in the Mt Liebig community, some 325 kilometres north west of Alice Springs. Famous for her monochrome ‘Tali’ or Sandhills trademark style Lily’s career really blossomed in 2003 when she won the General Painting Category at the 20th Telstra Awards – the highest honour in indigenous art. One of Lily Kelly’s paintings has fetched $38,000 in a Sotheby‘s 2006 auction.
