Josie Petrick Kemarre [c1945-]
Josie Petrick is a senior and respected Utopian artist who has been painting since she was a teenager. She paints her Dreamings and her country’s landscape in a bold innovative powerful style. Some of her stories are inherited from her late grandmother, the one and only Emily Kame Kngwarreye. As testimony to her international recognition, Josie has had numerous overseas exhibitions including the Australian Embassy in Washington DC, the Australian Consulate in New York and the United Nations Building in New York. One of her magnificent Bush Berry paintings has fetched over $22,000 in a Lawson-Menzies 2007 auction.
