Elizabeth Marks Nakamarra [c1959-]

Art has been in Elizabeth’s blood since birth - she is the daughter of Frank Tjupurrula and Mary Napanangka. After her father passed away when she was an infant, she was raised and taught to paint by her stepfather Turkey Tolson Tjupurrula and her uncle, Johnny Warangkula Tjupurrula, two esteemed pioneers of the Papunya Tula Art movement. She is also a sister to Nellie Marks and just for good measure, Elizabeth was married to the late [1998] Mick Tjapaltjarri, another great Papunya artist. Elizabeth’s paintings revolve around the elements of a huge earth-forming storm in the Dreamtime.
