Damien Marks Tjungala [1967-]

Damien Marks Tjungala was born in 1967 at Haasts Bluff. Soon after, his family moved to Papunya where he was taught how to paint by world renowned artists Billy Stockman, Uta Uta and his uncle, Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri [in Sotheby's July 2007 auction, one of his paintings fetched a record $2.4 m], making him a cousin to Clifford’s two daughters, Gabriella and Michelle Possum Nungurrayi - both highly acclaimed artists in their own right. Damien is married to another highly regarded up-and-coming artist, Yilpi Marks. Both have proved to be individually successful as well as creating some excellent joint works that have featured in several successful exhibitions.
