Betty Club Mbitjana [1954-]
Born in the heart of Utopia country, Betty is a daughter of one of the truly great aboriginal artists of all time, Minnie Pwerle [deceased 2006], whose other daughter, Barbara Weir is also considered to be one of today’s foremost indigenous contemporary artists. Betty is respectful of her traditional family ties and possesses a great passion for painting. She is honoured to be carrying on her mother’s beliefs and Dreamings - as well as skillfully interpreting her own - with some sensational renditions of Minnie’s famous ‘body paint’ and ‘bush melon’ trademark genres. Betty paints with an energetic flair so reminiscent of her mother’s and her stunning works are increasing in popularity and value.
