Barbara Weir [1945-]

Barbara is the eldest daughter of the late Minnie Pwerle [d2006] and was part of the ‘stolen generation’. In the early 1960s, Barbara was returned to her native homeland of Utopia where she also stayed with her aunt, the late great Emily Kame Kngwarreye.  As she has been taught to paint by two of the very best in the history of contemporary indigenous art, it is no surprise to see that Barbara’s works are now revered all around the world, with one of her ‘Grass Seed Dreaming’ paintings fetching over $30,000 at auction.
